We are close or within reasonable driving distance to explore much of the best that Cornwall has to offer the day visitor or those staying longer; to maximise your time and give you a truly unique Cornish experience.

The Eden Project

One of Cornwall's best attractions. Biomes house the largest rainforest in captivity, plants, exhibitions and stories serve as a backdrop to the contemporary gardens, summer concerts and exciting year-round family events. Near St. Austell.

Historic Fowey

Exceptional beauty on the south Cornish coast, Fowey is an important town with an historic harbour and outstanding sailing opportunities. A blend of Georgian and medieval buildings criss-cross through the old parts of Fowey.

Padstow

Lying on the flowing Camel estuary, Padstow combines old fishing port appeal with modern restaurants and something for all the family to do. Located near many fine walks and miles of unspoilt coastline, a destination visited time and time again.

Timeless Truro

The county town of Cornwall, Truro is a lovely ecletic mix of old and new. Fabulous for shopping, eating out or playing on the waterfront. Home to the Royal Cornwall Musuem and the striking cathedral, a must visit on your list.

Tintagel & King Arthur

Was there an historical king called Arthur, leader of the British and renowned for his military prowess? Legends persist in Cornwall but there may be more to the story than mere fiction. Visit Tintagel to find out more.

On Location With Poldark

The man with Cornish swagger....Ross Poldark has done much for the popularity of Cornwall as a destiny to explore both the historic past and changing landscape. An Skiber is the perfect base to visit locations from the Poldark TV series.

We are Nichola & Ian...we love Cornwall. Rural, pure air and wonderful, friendly neighbours who epitomise an independant Cornish spirit and approach to life. An Skiber is on the ascent up Bodmin Moor. Here, we make our home with nature, baking bread, lots of gardening and some sheep...

Named after one of Cornwall's (many) famous saints, Neot, the lovely village of St. Neot is located between Liskeard and Bodmin, on the old highway to London. It is about 5 minutes drive from An Skiber, although you can walk there of course. The old church is stunning and noted for its medieval stained glass windows.

In St. Neot, there is our local pub, the London Inn, a social club and a small grocery store for quick items such as milk, bread and a chocolate treat. Bigger food shopping is best done before you get here; Morrisons in Liskeard is conveniently close by and stocks all you will need for your stay.

...

The writer Daphne Du Maurier wrote many novels based upon life in Cornwall's past. Perhaps her most enduring is Jamaica Inn, the story of ruthless smugglers, making their living from the contraband washed up or wrecked intentionally off the Cornish Coast.

Jamaica Inn is the centre of attention for Du Maurier's novel and not far away from An Skiber over the moor northwards. There, you will find the Smuggling Museum, telling the story of those involved in the illicit trade off Cornwall's coasts. Well worth a visit and stopping point before exploring more of Bodmin Moor's hidden gems.

...

The Golitha Falls are a series of spectacular cascades and waterfalls along a section of the River Fowey as it makes its way through the ancient oak woodland of Draynes Wood. It is one of the best known beauty spots on Bodmin Moor.

As well as being a lovely walk through the woods in itself, Golitha Falls is in prime walking country. Just off the "Two Valleys Walk" which begins at nearby St Neot before passing through the valleys of the Rivers Loveny and Fowey as well as over the high moor at Berry Down.

...

Carnglaze Caverns is a much recommended all-weather family tourist attraction near the village of St Neot, on the southern edge of Bodmin Moor in Cornwall, halfway between Liskeard and Bodmin just off the A38.

There are three chambers of cathedral proportions, hand created by local slate miners. During your tour you will go about 150m into the hillside and 60m below ground, via a flight of 60 steps. In the lower chambers you will find the Underground Lake with its crystal clear blue/green water. The Caverns are at a constant 10°C, so a jumper and sensible footwear are recommended.

Such a great stay at this hidden gem. The An Skiber is a lot larger than it looks in the photos. But it still felt very cosy. Nichola was really helpful and I would definitely stay again.

Jasmin

Attended a wedding at nearby Trevenna Barns. Nichola's place is within 15-minute walking distance along country lanes so don't forget your wellies for the stank home! Nichola was happy for us to drop our bags off early which was very helpful. She also left a light on for us as we did not get there until 12.30am after the wedding. The place was spotlessly clean.

Katherine

Excellent location for nearby wedding. Hosts were great - quick responses and very accommodating.

Richard

It was a great place, really cosy and cute and in a lovely location to explore from! The place was really clean and surprisingly big once you're inside! We would definately like to go back for a long weekend! Thank you!

Sophia

We had a fabulous few days at An Skiber. We enjoyed the location, deep in the countryside but near the coast for seaside walks. Evenings in front of the log burner, tv-free were perfect to sooth the soul.

Gill

The place is stunning, so very cosy and everything you need is there, for a peaceful and relaxing stay! I only wish I could have made more time to be there! Nichola is a superb host, very welcoming and accommodating! I do hope to come back soon!

Louisa

Our visit to An Skiber was our first foray into the world of Airbnb and we were not disappointed. The setting of An Skiber was wonderful and Nicola couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. We both throughly enjoyed our stay.

My girlfriend and I had a lovely stay - the property was just as it appeared in the description. The bottle of wine was a nice touch! Very peaceful. Thank you Nichola!

We had a wonderful 3 night stay at An Skiber. The cottage was warm, cosy and had everything we needed. The beautiful location is close enough for easy access to Cornwall, but secluded enough for complete peace and quiet.

Jenny

Lovely place to stay, and a great host. Set in a great place with stunning views! Would recommend to anyone who would like a quite break with no distractions of modern day amenities.

Mark

A lovely place on Bodmin Moor. House was extremely clean, in great condition...everything we needed. Nichola was kind enough to meet us on arrival though we were quite late in arriving. A great location to explore the local area.

Chris

Simple living - rural place away from it all. Easy access to good walks and cosy once you’ve got the log burner going. Thanks for a great stay.
